Notebook: Winter Storms (2/10/2014)

The recent winter storms wrecked havoc in the Wissahickon Valley. Weighted down by frozen branches, trees were thrown to the ground and uprooted. New carvings of trails, in only a few days, began to emerge as hikers sought the easiest path around the larger oaks.

The trails remain icy and difficult. Eight miles and 1,200 feet of vertical today felt like much more.
